I’ve got a new toy to play with tonight (well, it’s not technically mine). Aileen bought a Sony Clie PEG-T615C and of course, being the computer geek in the family, I volunteered to set it up for her and transfer the data from her old Handspring Visor Deluxe. Surprisingly, that task has so far been a snap. I’m currently in the middle of transferring all her old medical programs and it’s been painless. As far as features go, the color display on this thing is really sharp, too bad the screen is kinda small, especially compared to my iPaq. It should be plenty for Aileen’s purposes though (which is to look cool while doing her hospital rounds).
I’d still pick any Pocket PC-based PDA over a Palm-based one anyday, but Aileen had to get the latter because the medical programs that she uses aren’t available on the PPC platform. And out of all the Palm-based PDAs, I told her that for me, the Clies were the best ones on the market, mainly for their built-in multimedia capability and more importantly, they just look so much cooler than any Palm or Handspring model. It’s nice to know that she listens to me every once in a while. ![]()
One other advantage – this Clie is soooo much faster than that old Visor. Syncing up used to take forever on the Handspring. The Clie on the other hand synced up all the same data in just about 5 minutes…. awesome!
I’m the proud winner of a contest that Comics2Film ran for its 5th year anniversary. I got a DVD of the Judge Dredd movie starring Sly Stallone and the now-hot Diane Lane. Although a lot of people didn’t like the movie, I thought that it captured the spirit of the 2000 AD series. Who in the movie industry can even come close to having a Judge Dredd chin (without any prosthesis doohickeys) better than Sly? This flick is probably one of the top 5 comic-based movies ever made, and besides I got it for free so I’m not about to complain about that. My motto is – “If it’s free, it’s for me!”
Man, do I miss going out – it seems like it’s been forever since Aileen and I had a proper date. One of the first things we should do when I get a job is go for a night out. There’s so many places here in the Pitt that I’ve been wanting to check out. There’s M (formerly Metropol) where people like David Byrne (of the Talking Heads), Sleater-Kinney, Saves The Day and other bands I want to see usually play. Unfortunately, I don’t really feel good about leaving Zoe alone with a sitter all night. I guess it’s just one of those compromises of having a baby that you have to live with. Still, I think Aileen and I deserve a night out sometime soon. It would be nice to have some time with just Aileen and myself for a change, even if just for a couple of hours.
